MISCELLANEOUS

Here I'll be putting fairly random things I've done to the car that either don't have to do with the swap or that don't fit well into one of the other categories.

Our Roadster came with a broken horn button insert. I replaced it with an 1/8" thick acrylic disk, on the reverse of which were etched my and my wife's initials. This was, after all, our wedding car. I backed the disk with an exposed piece of photographic paper, for a nice glossy sheen. Solter Plastics in LA made the disk, but any plastics shop can do something similar.
Here is a complete service manual for a 1989 Mazda Miata (MX-5). The only problem is that it is in German. Still, the pinouts of the ECU and sensors are fabulous. The file is very large (38MB). I would suggest doing a "right-click" save as, and even then only if you really want the file.
While trolling through a Miata users group, I found this interesting dress-up tip for the 1.8L BP engine: a sassy ribbed valve cover from a 1990+ Protege bolts right on. Note that it does expose the timing gears, although the Miata is a non-interference engine, so who cares. A pre-1990 Protege/323 should have the same look, but fit the earlier Miata 1.6L B6 engines.

Might work as an in-line movie; might need to right click the link and save it to the desktop; I'm not sure.
